Gala concert "My Way"

Gala concert "My Way"

From Sinatra's classics Fly Me To The MoonMy Way, and Strangers in the Night to the romantic melodies of Nat King Cole and Dean Martin and the infectious rhythm of Sway and Quando, Quando, Quando, the audience can expect a spectacular musical experience.

MATEO ĐIKIĆ: After starting as a self-taught singer at the age of 21, he began taking solo singing lessons with Professor Branka Ristić, marking his entry into the world of classical music. It was then that he started learning the bel canto singing technique. He later enrolled in the Josip Hatze Music School, studying under Professor Sanja Erceg Vrekalo for three years. During his musical education, alongside numerous concerts and vocal seminars, he participated in national and international competitions, achieving remarkable success.

At the age of 25, he began singing as an external collaborator in the Croatian National Theatre Split Choir, which allowed him to work with exceptional artists and perform in various operas, concerts, and musicals. A year later, he started exploring and practicing jazz singing, falling in love with jazz and swing standards. In this style, he primarily studied the vocal techniques of Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra and began learning from Lela Kaplowitz.

At the same time, he co-founded the jazz ensemble "Blue Eyes" with Jadran Dučić Čićo, alongside Jurica Karuza. Frequently joined by various guest musicians, they perform standards and songs from the repertoire of Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Dean Martin, and Nat King Cole. However, Sinatra profoundly influenced his perspective on jazz and pop music. He is also deeply fascinated by the 1950s, which he perceives as refined, warm, elegant, and stylishly polished. Watching recordings and photographs from that era always evokes nostalgia for something he never experienced.

On December 11 and 12, 2024, he debuted as a solo performer with two sold-out concerts at the Croatian National Hall Split. He was accompanied by the HRT Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Miron Hauser.
