Marko Uvodić Splićanin amblematski je splitski autor koji je svojim živopisnim kronikama ovjekovječio, a velikim dijelom i kreirao ono što zovemo duh grada.

Nabucco, one of his most popular opera, Verdi wrote as a 28-year-old. It was his true life and professional turning point, therefore his words addressed to his publisher Giulio Ricordi are considered to be emblematic: "This is the opera with which my artistic career really begins.”

Directed by Ivan Leo Lemo and conducted by Hari Zlodre, the opera Diocletian will premiere at the 71st Split Summer Festival.

Alongside Gotovac's Ero the Joker, Zajc's Nikola Šubić Zrinjski is the most potent and popular Croatian opera. This upcoming premiere, a co-production with the Croatian National Theatre in Osijek, presents this well-known and beloved work in a fresh new light.

This is the fourth year that the students of the Music School Josip Hatze and their older colleagues from the CNT Split Opera join into a single ensemble at the end of the music theatre season.

The key work of Italian verismo and one of the most popular operas in the world, Leoncavallo's masterpiece is the first opera premiere of the new theatre season.

Metamorphosis connecting totalitarian linguistic discourse and primal human animalism becomes thus a powerful image of lost humanity in the invading tide of madness and as such a welcome theatre vaccine against all forms of collective contagions.

Ibsen uncompromisingly leads his hero beyond the order where democracy represents a mere terror over majority fascinated by their own gain. Doctor Stockmann - because of his insistence to cleanse the actual and moral quagmire of the community – will be declared an enemy of the people. In this Pirandello’s play the so-called ordinary people interrupt a theatre rehearsal unexpected and uninvited with an unusual request: we want our story to be told on the stage! This rough intrusion into the protected theatre space is no longer a trigger for conversational drama of absurdism as it was at its première, but possible start of a cruel, activist story about theatre occupied by people in a desperate search for any kind of satisfaction. Those six characters, disappointed with political leaders and banking elites, choose theatre as their last resort, however under their terms.

After the triumphant success of Nabucco, young Verdi, driven by patriotism and youthful enthusiasm in the midst of the Risorgimento, created a powerful opera, full of tenderness, piety, determination, inexhaustible melodic inventiveness and amazing ensemble scenes.

Debitantska knjiga Tisje Kljaković Braić U malu je uša đava već dugo ne silazi s ljestvica najčitanijih i najprodavanijih knjiga u Hrvatskoj, a budući da njezin sadržaj kroz niz duhovitih priča donosi Split osamdesetih koji još uvijek neodoljivo podsjeća na Smojin Split iz Veloga mista i na Fellinijev Mediteran, put do kazališne adaptacije nametnuo se kao prirodan i očekivan.

Cavalleria rusticana, a masterpiece of opera verism, was one of the greatest sensations in the history of opera at its premiere in 1890 in Rome. A short and intense work about love, betrayal, and revenge in Sicily. Mascagni’s opera was an instant success and started a trend in opera for the naturalistic, often violent verismo style. Cavalleria will be conducted by maestro Ivo Lipanović, directed by Jelena Bosančić, and Kristina Kolar, Max Jota, Bože Jurić Pešić, Antonija Teskera, Ivona Bosančić Lasić, Paolo Gavanelli and Stefany Findrik will perform with the CNT Split Orchestra and Choir.

Nakon Dalmatinske zagore i Splita, Elvis Bošnjak uposljednjem tekstu svoje Dalmatinske trilogije publici otvara prozor u život dalmatinskih otoka i kompleksnog, nekada i surovog života njegovih žitelja. Usidrene u režiji Anastasije Jankovske igra u konkurenciji 32. Marulićevih dana u četvrtak, 21. travnja. 

The scenic cantata by Carl Orff, the dramatic Carmina Burana, under the baton of conductor Ivan Hut and staged by Polish opera director Michał Znaniecki, will ceremoniously open the 70th Split Summer Festival at the Peristyle. Along with the Orchestra, Choir, and Ballet of the Croatian National Theatre Split, renowned soloists—soprano Marcelina Román, tenor Franko Klisović, and baritone Ljubomir Puškarić—will also perform.

A Romance of Three Loves by Šoljan is a witty and touching drama play in verse, formally endued with Moliere – Shakespeare features, which puts us at the same time the most complicated questions about love and life. On the Stage 55 it will be directed by Nikola Šimić.

Perfect event for all opera enthusiasts, filled with most popular arias from the works of two immortal composers, such as La Forza del Destino, Il Trovatore, Don Carlo, Nabucco, Tannhäuser and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. With Ivo Lipanović as the conductor, Valentina Fijačko Kobić, Antonija Teskera, Terezija Kusanović, Ivan Momirov and Ivica Čikeš perform the solo parts, accompanied by CNT Split's Choir and Orchestra.  

Beret, the second play by Ilija Zovko, the untimely deceased actor of the Croatian National Theatre in Split, first premiered in 2005 on our Stage 55. The play recieved great reviews from the press and audiences.

Carmen has been revived on the Split Theatre stage this season again. Conducted by maestro Robert Homen with the prima donna of the CNT Split Opera Terezija Kusanović in the leading role of fiery passionate and fickle Gypsy girl Carmen.

Drama o četvero ljudi u tridesetima koji nisu u mogućnosti ostvariti kontakt  te se u emotivnom smislu do kraja prepustiti. Živimo u virtualnom svijetu punom tjeskobe koja je komična i groteskna, gdje je između dvoje uvijek nekakav posrednik u vidu ekrana ili vlastitog straha. 

Fado is the most representative way of expression in popular Portuguese culture. The multitude of movements, sounds, experiences and feelings conveys the virtuosity, beauty and sensuality, demystifying the melancholy and nostalgic connotations associated with fado.

Film version of The Hole obviously resulted in such respect that it was rarely staged in theatre. Mythical patina of the Sever street thus represents the right environment for the brave cast led by director Zoran Mužić and composer Mate Matišić. Versatile actors entering into The Hole are Snježana Sinovčić and Ksenija Prohaska as Mrs. Anježa and Mrs. Tereža and Joško Ševo and Trpimir Jurkić as Mr. Vito and Mr. Pere

Tena Štivičić je hrabro predstavila prijelomne trenutke svoje osobne i hrvatske povijesti. Drama je s velikim uspjehom praizvedena u Londonu, u New Yorku je osvojila uglednu nagradu Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, dok je izvedbom u zagrebačkome Hrvatskom narodnom kazalištu u režiji Ivice Buljana, doživjela nepodijeljeno oduševljenje

Mirna Bosna pričom o dvije socijalno ugrožene porodice koje se spajaju u jednu da bi preživjeli, na način na koji se preživljavalo u ratu, propituje mir u kojem danas živi Bosna i Hercegovina .

Aida at Peristyle is a stunning scenic event that has been leaving the Split Summer Festival audience breathless for over sixty years, with its performances, scenes and costumes, as well as the unique ambience of the seventeen century old Imperial Square.

Drama in Croatian

 Drama 55 kvadrata Ivane Vuković u režiji Ivana Plazibata premijerno u Hrvatskom narodnom kazalištu Split u subotu, 26. ožujka.

Ja od jutra nisam stao autorice Une Vizek u režiji Dražena Krešića i produkciji Hrvatskog narodnog kazališta u Mostaru igra u konkurenciji 32. Marulićevih dana u petak, 22. travnja.

Flaubertovo remek-djelo u koreografiji i režiji renomirane koreografkinje Valentine Turcu, dramski balet Gospođa Bovary premijerno će izvesti splitski baletni ansambl na sceni na Prokurativama 2. i 3. kolovoza.

Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin Waiting for Orestes by Lada Kaštelan (based on Sophocles' Electra), directed by Livija Pandur, tells a story in an innovative and entirely different way—a story in which everyone can recognize themselves.

FC Hajduk is more than a club, and Tijardović is more than a composer. On the centenary of the premiere of The Queen of the Ball (Kraljica lopte), probably the only operetta dedicated to a football club, it is returning to the stage of the Split theater 100 years after its world premiere.

The work of Marija Dukić, within the framework of the Project “Towards real male – female equality: how to reconcile professional and family life”, directed by Marica Grgurinović, directly stimulates critical reevaluation of gender stereotypes deeply present in contemporary Croatian society.

Ero s onoga svijeta, najbolja i u svijetu najizvođenija hrvatska opera, nenadmašno je remek-djelo Jakova Gotovca, koje će i ove godine zablistati u punom sjaju u svom najprirodnijem okružju, na tlu s kojeg je i ponikla. Vrlika je rodno mjesto libretista Milana Begovića, ali i ishodište brojnih folklornih poticaja koje je Gotovac majstorski uklopio u ovo djelo. 

Ballet combining classic and contemporary elements danced by seventeen ballet dancers was premiered at the 62nd Split Summer Festival on the Sustipan venue in 2016. Igor Kirov once again proved that imagination, dynamic and high technical demands represent the fabric of his choreography writing.
