The De imitatione Christi series in three stylizations of the Croatian literary language includes the earliest known Chakavian, Shtokavian, and Kajkavian translations of the medieval Latin text De imitatione Christi. It was published in 2024, the year marking the 500th anniversary of the death of Marko Marulić, the author of the first known Croatian translation of this work.
To mark the occasion, Marijana Horvat has prepared a new edition of Marulić’s work Of the Imitation of Jesus Christ and the Contempt of All Worldly Vanities (Od naslidovanʼja Isukarstova i od pogarjenʼja tašćin segasvitnjih, 1500), written in the Chakavian stylization of the Croatian literary language.
