Bambina

Bambina

To love and to sail is a must.

In the Split shipyard in the mid-eighties of the last century, the tanker Bambina is being built for a Greek shipowner. As the project manager, a young and inexperienced engineer arrives and finds it challenging to resist the established mechanisms of corruption he encounters there. When a love story with a high school student on an internship, labor union issues, and family disputes are added to the mix, the result is an authentic Mediterranean chaos resolved with a lot of noise, rough words, dramatic twists, and songs.
The heroes of this story come from a recognizable gallery of Split characters, from the Ravne njive neighborhood through the shipyard to Meje, and they are confronted with social differences and prejudices that are recognizable in any era.
With the unforgettable hits of Neno Belan and the legendary Đavoli, this theatrical story unfolds like a nostalgic jukebox musical. However, that time, which many remember as better days, will also remind us of today's relevant problems. But the ship needs to be made, and Bambina will set sail despite everything, and that is, if nothing else, always possible in the theater.
