With Othello, we enter a world of unpredictable boundaries—of dreams and nightmares, ideals and their terrifying collapse, of good and evil, the inner and outer lives of its protagonists, their virtues and flaws. Othello is both archaic and contemporary, above all thrilling. It plunges into the turbulent world of love and jealousy, trust and betrayal, revealing the impossibility of ever truly knowing another person. Choreographer Maša Kolar builds a dance narrative from love to murder, transforming the power of passion and emotion into perfectly harmonious movement. Through dance that takes on a hypnotic quality, she explores the deepest layers of intimate relationships and social issues that Shakespeare’s famous work still raises today.
The musical world of this dance story is brought to life by the vibrant, pulsating energy and dramatic intensity of the music by Damir Martinović Mrle.
