I Capuleti e i Montecchi

"Swan of Catania," Vincenzo Bellini, the unparalleled master of bel canto, is an operatic genius whose gift for composing long, flowing melodies has been admired by the greatest opera composers, from Verdi to Wagner. Expressive music, deep emotions, and Bellini's ability to convey feelings of love, sorrow, and tragedy make this opera unforgettable. This masterpiece, a supreme example of Bellini's ability to create a musical narrative that radiates both beauty and depth, is being performed in Split for the first time.

The Mademoiselle Dupin’s Case

"The Mademoiselle Dupin’s Case" is a theatrical collage of several short stories by Edgar Allan Poe, with a focus on dramatizing two from the series of detective stories - "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" and "The Purloined Letter" - as well as incorporating motifs from the short story "The Black Cat." These stories are interwoven through the character of Detective August Dupin, a role assigned to a woman in the production by the Croatian National Theatre Split, under the direction of Natalija Manojlović and dramatization by Ivana Vuković, portraying Mademoiselle Dupin as the play's heroine.

La Traviata
Giuseppe Verdi

La Traviata

The musical drama about a Parisian courtesan, the "fallen woman," who sacrifices everything for love, is the pinnacle of Verdi's genius. From the intoxicating joy of the drinking song ("Brindisi") to the subdued and poignant third act where hope and despair meet, La traviata is a profoundly emotional bel canto masterpiece by the most significant opera master.

Mila Gojsalića

In folk tradition, the heroism of Mila Gojsalić, the beautiful and proud girl from Poljica, a martyr and a national heroine, the "Croatian Joan of Arc" who sacrificed her own life to eliminate the danger of foreign occupation in her native Poljica region, is a significant theme in Croatian literature, music, and art. Jakov Gotovac composed a historical musical drama based on the lyrics of Danko Anđelinović, creating his most lavish opera in the process, filled with noble pathos and almost oratorical serenity.

It brought together "top-notch performers, from the conductor, choir, and orchestra to the soloists, all so assured and powerful that the impression was left that positive energy had been building up in the ensemble for a long time."

The Turnaround
Damir Karakaš

The Turnaround

"The Turnaround is one of the rare performances that, as expected, did not scream with the themes of crime, survival, lack of punishment, and the emergence of forgiveness. It is a performance in which the concept of intensity should be interpreted. It does not shout, but in the silence of the theater, it whispers thunderously intensively – this could have happened to you. To anyone who has said or written anything unpopular. Or to those who have done absolutely nothing. Its horror and beauty are on the same timeline. Stirring and necessary." - Magdalena Mrčela, www.dalmacijadanas.com

Orphans
Dennis Kelly

Orphans

The arrival of a visibly distressed man interrupts the peaceful dinner of a young married couple. From this first powerful dramatic image, Kelly constructs a world in which the search for truth leads deeper into situations where all certainties and securities of civil life suddenly become questionable. Because the stakes are high: peace or truth, justice or crime, family or loneliness. The family is an exemplary specimen of contemporary dramatic writing with a thriller's rhythm, the street's energy, and the pulsation of life.

Honest, poignant, and emotionally charged dramatic text by Ilija Zovko about the, more or less accidental, encounter of two strangers, a woman and a man in their late fifties, was brought to life by Snježana Sinovčić Šiškov and Trpimir Jurkić. Little Rascal

The debut book by Tisja Kljaković Braić, "U malu je uša đava" (Little Rascal), has been consistently at the top of the charts for most-read and best-selling books in Croatia for a long time. Since its content, through a series of humorous stories, brings to life the Split of the 1980s, which still irresistibly resembles Smojin Split from "Veliko misto" and Fellini's Mediterranean, the path to a theatrical adaptation has naturally and expectedly presented itself.

Frog
Dubravko Mihanović

Frog

Frog, written by Dubravko Mihanović, a text that has received multiple awards, been translated, and performed, remains an equally relevant story about recognizable individuals struggling to adapt to times of twisted values, even fifteen years after its creation. The drama unfolds in a barbershop on Christmas Eve, further emphasizing the loneliness and personal dramas of the four men who gather there. The lack of communication and empathy, alienation in a world of superficiality and false success, and the struggle for intimacy are compressed into a virtuoso-written drama that, with unexpected twists, turns into a psychological thriller.
