The Split Aquarelle

Ever since its first staging (Split, March 5, 1928) there have been thousands of stories told about The Split Aquarelle, however the essence of its charm was perhaps best described by the director Krešimir Dolenčić: "The Split Aquarelle, being a musical or operetta, does not exist. It has been constantly staged in the City of Split. (...)The Split Aquarelle does not occur in the late twenties. It is happening constantly... "

Little Floramye

Following the original ideas and drafts of maestro Ivo Tijardović, Little Floramye was imagined as homage to a lost time and spirit, addressing contemporary and new generations at the same time: Is there any place for love and respect for our differences in this carnival whirl of anachronism, politics and consumerism?

Ero the Joker

Premiered in the Croatian National Theatre Zagreb in 1935, from its scenic beginnings Ero the Joker was nicely received by the audience while isolated sceptical critics very soon proved to be totally failed judgements. Ero is the most staged and internationally most recognized Croatian opera. Some of its music motives, especially its final Kolo dance “Što na nebu sja visoko - What's that shining high on heaven”, have often been used and quoted.

Ernani
Giuseppe Verdi

Ernani

Verdi's Ernani, abundant with delightful, dashing melodies, choruses, arias, duets and trios, represents an archetype for the whole operatic tradition: tenor is a young man suffering from love, bass is an old bold egoist, and the most impressive baritone is psychologically most complex type of person, torn between tenderness and violence, between his own interests and idealistic inclinations.
