As part of the 12th Bach Days in Split, the String Orchestra of the Academy of Arts, University of Split, conducted by Wladimir Kossjanenko, will perform a concert on Thursday, November 14th, 2024, at 6 p.m. in the Foyer of the Croatian National Theatre Split. Admission is free.
The concert program features four masterpieces of the Baroque period: Johann Sebastian Bach's Concerto for Two Violins and Strings and the 5th Brandenburg Concerto, along with two works by the great composer's renowned contemporaries: Georg Philipp Telemann's Viola Concerto for Strings and Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Violins and Strings from the collection L'estro armonico.
The soloists are students from the Department of String Instruments and Guitar: Josip Veselić—viola (mentor Wladimir Kossjanenko), Dorotea Rukavina and Petra Subašić —violins (mentor Loris Grubišić); Viktor Galuf and Marta Medan—violins (mentor Evgenia Epshtein), as well as professors from the Academy of Arts Zoran Velić—piano, Marko Zupan—flute, and Wladimir Kossjanenko—violin.
The Music Arts Association Artemis organized the concert with support from the City of Split in collaboration with the Academy of Arts and the Croatian National Theatre Split. The Bach Days festival received the title "Remarkable Festival of Europe 2019-2021" from the European Festival Association (Brussels). Since its inception in 2012, the festival has hosted over 150 musicians of all generations from 19 countries.
