Quadrature of the Theater moment

Dear theater enthusiasts,

Our program of the season has been presented by a quadrant floating through the sky, while our ancestors always presented a sky as a circle. As you can see, within this circle we have chosen for you some ten titles intending to travel together in different directions, not in order to measure the quadrature of the theater circle but to prove to you that such journey is worth every moment of your attention.

If you did not know that the above quoted verses are more than four centuries old, you might think that they were written by someone very close to us, someone thinking exactly the same as we do about the time we live in.

However, knowing that these are Shakespeare’s verses, everything seems easier to us. Since it obviously seems that the world around us can still exist being foul and filthy, or that witches from Macbeth were wrong and overreacting describing the sinisterness of the world. When talking about Verdi, he is completely on Shakespeare’s side, and it seems that the situation had not been merrier in our country either. Abundant in battles and calamities, this country has hidden many Miserable Maras, both of Botica and Hatze, forcing them to find their rare share of happiness in the crucifix.

Pretty tragic opera tones of this season will abate in spring since Marshall is an opera of jocose-nostalgic impostation, zested with laugh and irony and even curiosity characteristic for every premiere, domestic even more.

Drama program is full of humor, grotesque, cynicism, even sarcasm. Three Sisters have balls and chains of provincial life attached to their legs. Brešan’s Hamlet, besides the well-known Danish net of intrigues, has a rope of our hicks around it with a cup as big as a well at the end of it; The Finnhorse is not only Finnish but our jade as well, which hardy ever reaches the sun rays from the EU. Support Group is actually rather a Delay Group, not to even mention the blockade. So much desired Salary Raise handling only with “if-then” gripper is constantly faced with “not then-not ever” scissors.

However, do not be afraid. Because all these dramatic “balls, ropes, scissors”…represent merely frightening equipment spreading around itself in concentric circles all coloristic values of concert and ballet program. Giselle, Napoli, Carmen: or from dreamily and enthusiastic, via dancing and disheveled, towards incandescent and ebullient…

Therefore we repeat: we are absolutely sure that we are taking you to journeys worth every moment of your attention.
